The college carries the prestige of being the first and only degree college for women (upto 2000) in Hardoi, (a very backward district). It started as Arya Kanya Pathshala only High school under a neem tree with the chanting of Vedic mantras and grew into a degree college in 1970 affiliated to Kanpur university (now C.S.J.M). Its honour in having first ex vice-chancellor of Kanpur University and Chairman of Public Service Commission late Shri Radha Krishna Agrawal, President of the managing committee under whose brilliant guidance and inspiration, the college headed towards academic progress. Teachers did PhD, even non-teaching staff added to their qualifications and classes in popular subjects-English literature and geography were started and the college had its first convocation in 1976. The constructive vision of late Dr. Pratipal Singh (Manager) and Mrs. Sudha Chaudhary (Principal) got the college registered under 2(F) and 12(B) with U.G.C. in 1976 and with matching grant infra-structure was remarkably improved. In the end, our “Sadar Naman” to all those dedicated departed souls whose ceaseless and selfless efforts gifted this institution to the people of Hardoi.
